2025 in Reading

Another annual reading list I’m putting up without much commentary, but there were some bangers in 2025. β€œThe point seems to be this,” Kate Briggs writes, β€œleft to its own devices, the path of reading is very rarely chronologically ordered, thematically coherent, limited by language or respectful of borders. Books open out onto, they cross with and follow haphazardly on from one another. Left to its own devices, the path of reading strays all over the place.”

Photographers Can Build Their Very Own Keychain Camera at Home

A person with colorful, mismatched nail polish holds a small, retro-style toy camera with an orange and teal body against an orange background.

Keychain cameras are all the rage these days. After the success of the Kodak Charmera, it is of little surprise that other companies are getting in on the fun. What sets the new Keymera apart, though, is that it's 3D-printable and can be built by photographers at home.

Paul Rudd’s 8-Part Netflix Sci-Fi Is a Stellar 21st Century Gem You Forgot Existed

One of the most fascinating trends in the last year of movies was the notion of one actor playing two roles. Whether it's Michael B. Jordan in Sinners,Robert De Niro in The Alto Knights, Theo James in The Monkey, or Robert Pattinson in Mickey 17, multiple A-listers got the chance to interact with themselves on screen. Although it's a fun gimmick that can give some actors the chance to stretch outside of their comfort zones, it is quite challenging to play multiple characters with unique and distinctive personalities for an extended period of time. Holding these responsibilities over the course of the entire series would seemingly be an impenetrable difficulty for even the most talented of actors, but Anaconda star Paul Ruddpulled it off remarkably well in the underrated Netflix series Living With Yourself.
