Some Nova Scotia long-term care residents and their family members want the province to raise its offer on wages as a strike in the sector enters its eighth week.

CUPE says the lead bargaining unit have ratified their new tentative agreement. All other striking CUPE locals will now hold their own ratification votes.

CUPE, which represents about 3,600 striking staff, reached a tentative agreement with the province over the weekend.
