11 Years Ago, This β€˜Rookie’ Star Was a Total Badass in a Sci-Fi Hidden Gem

Two things makeThe Rookiestand out from other procedurals on network TV. First, there's its title; the titular "rookie," John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), is 45 years old (and based on a real-life story). The second is the cast; in addition to Fillion, the main cast includes plenty of talented actors, including Melissa O'Neil as Nolan's fellow officer, Lucy Chen. Lucy's character arc throughout The Rookie has been pretty compelling. But before the ABC series, O'Neil wound up playing another complex, compelling character in the SyFy series Dark Matter β€” not to be confused with Apple TV+'s sci-fi series of the same name β€” and her performance is just one of the many things that make it a standout in the science fiction genre.

'Daredevil: Born Again's Latest Update Could Finally Redeem This Divisive MCU Hero

The second season of Daredevil: Born Againsurprised fans when it brought Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) into the back half of its run. Perhaps the biggest surprise wasn't the fact that Jessica came back to help Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), but that she and her fellow Defender, Luke Cage (Mike Colter), had a daughter together. Season 3 is set to complete the Defenders reunion, as set photos reveal that Danny Rand (Finn Jones), aka the Immortal Iron Fist, will play a major role in the story. If Daredevil: Born Again plays its cards right, it can actually make Iron Fist a compelling character.

Forget 'Jack Ryan', Prime Video's Sci-Fi Military Thriller Is Worth a Weekend Watch

Prime Video recently returned to the world of one of its first hit television shows with Jack Ryan: Ghost War, which sees John Kraskinski reprising his role as the titular super spy. Add in the fact that Ghost War is packed with enough action and bloodshed to rival Reacher, and it's no wonder that it's rocketed up Prime Video's streaming charts in the past week. Those same streaming charts are currently home to another military-themed movie that has a science fiction flair. This movie also holds the title of being one of the worst box office bombs of all time, and nearly ending one actor's career.
