There is no shortage of fantastical entertainment these days, especially with high-fantasy television on the rise. But while the quality of fantasy TV certainly varies, there is one six-part saga that continues to delight no matter how many times you revisit it. If you've already guessed that we're talking about The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies by Peter Jackson, then you've caught us red-handed. Based on the novels by J.R.R. Tolkien, Jackson's original fantasy trilogy and its three-part prequel are endlessly rewatchable — and it helps that both the theatrical and extended editions are available for streaming on HBO Max.

There are many zombie-related shows currently available to stream on Netflix. Shows such as All of Us Are Dead, Kingdom, Black Summer, and many other rotating series are considered part of a sub-genre with no shortage of selection. Given the large number of zombie-related series available, zombie- and apocalypse-based television is now almost its own category within the Netflix library. However, two years after its second season and nearly a year after its finale, Sweet Home still stands above the rest as Netflix’s most addictive horror binge.

You know a song has achieved legendary cult status when it becomes a stadium staple. That is certainly the case for Neil Diamond, who first got a taste of the songwriting industry in the 1960s. However, the singer was not always keen on joining the music business. Originally attending New York University on a sports scholarship to study pre-med, Diamond unexpectedly changed career paths after landing a songwriting job at Sunbeam Music just before graduation.

Envisioned as a big-budget spectacle that would resurrect the sword-and-sorcery genre kick-started by Conan the Barbarian in 1982, Legend had a lot riding on it in 1985. Despite featuring both rising star Tom Cruise and stage legend Tim Curry, and coming from the visionary director of Alien, the surprisingly dark fantasy underperformed at the box office, not even making back its staggering cost.

With the 2015 western The Hateful Eight, writer-director Quentin Tarantino made a conscious return to a story he had explored before: What happens when you put a handful of violent characters all in the same room for the duration of a whole movie? The film was a reflection of what he had done with 1992's Reservoir Dogs (his first true feature film if we don't count My Best Friend’s Birthday), and after courting the biggest box-office success of his career with 2012’s Django Unchained, Tarantino was practically playing the hits with The Hateful Eight. Taking place shortly after the Civil War, it followed eight (or so) characters who are trapped together at Minnie’s Haberdashery during a snowstorm. But it's the storm brewing inside that features some of Tarantino’s favorite themes: racial prejudice, redemption, revenge, pretending, and a whole lot of talking.
