George R.R. Martin's 5-Part Supernatural Western Proves It’s as Close to Perfect as the Genre Gets

George R.R. Martin has more than earned his status as one of the most legendary fantasy authors of all time β€” his writings are the inspiration behind the biggest TV franchise in the world with Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones aired its second spin-off earlier this year with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and the third season of House of the Dragon is coming in just a few weeks. Martin may be the writer of the (infamously unfinished) Song of Ice and Fire series, but he’s also involved in other non-Game of Thrones projects, both as a writer and producer. Last year, Martin’s short story, In the Lost Lands, was adapted into a fantasy film starring Dave Bautista and Milla Jovovich, but it bombed at the box office with only $6 million against a $55 million budget.

One of the Greatest WWII Movies of All Time Is Waiting To Be Rediscovered on Prime Video

The best World War II movies of the last century typically feature heroic stories of battle and conquest, survival despite insurmountable challenges, and honorable figures fighting against injustice. And it's no surprise that Richard Attenborough's 1977 war drama A Bridge Too Far stands out as one of the most realistic and ambitious World War II films ever made, and now it's streaming on Prime Video. Upon its release, however, it was not universally lauded. In his scathing review, Roger Ebert asks, "Why make a movie about total defeat and stupidity?" And yet, that is the reason why A Bridge Too Far stands out among the rest. The film captures the scale, complexity, and failure of an operation by the Allied forces to surprise their enemies.

Robert Redford's Underseen Neo-Western on Paramount+ Is the Anti-'Yellowstone'

Recently trending at #5 in Paramount+'s Top 10 movies, An Unfinished Life is finally getting its due after all these years. The Robert Redford-led production is the heartwarming neo-Western that your soul has been craving ever since you decided to turn off Yellowstone after one too many Dutton altercations. Instead of murder and mayhem, the picture leans into the good, old-fashioned values that make up the modern American West, with a stunning cast and remarkable screenplay that will likely bring you to tears. No, this isn't your Kevin Costner-sized neo-Western, but it's a powerful film that does everything right.

Robert Redford's Wild War Movie Is the Thrilling American Action Flick You Need to Watch

Most people scrolling through Robert Redford’s filmography probably pause at Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, nod respectfully at All the President's Men, maybe throw The Sting on during a lazy Sunday afternoon, then completely glide past The Great Waldo Pepper like it does not exist. Which is understandable, honestly. The title sounds less like an action movie and more like somebody’s uncle who owns a corner store and complains about parking meters. Nothing about it prepares you for Redford dangling thousands of feet in the air inside airplanes that look assembled from spare parts and blind optimism.
