Sequence of shots of a Black-headed Gull, (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) in hot pursuit of an Oystercatcher, (Haematopus ostralegus) at one of the lagoons at Tophill Low nature reserve in East Yorkshire, UK. The Oystercatcher was one of a pair that were nesting in the middle of a mud and gravel islet in the lagoon. Whilst sitting on their nest surrounded by nesting Black-headed Gulls, the gulls seemed perfectly happy to accept this close presence to their own nests, but as soon as the Oystercatchers tried to fly to and from the nest, they were aggressively pursued by the suddenly enraged gulls!
