Prime Video started the year hot with a few new releases, particularly the highly anticipated second season of Fallout, which arrived back at the end of 2025 but continued well into 2026. Following closely behind the critically acclaimed sci-fi show was a pair of superhero series, Invincible and The Boys, and while the latter will be back for another batch of episodes next year, the former has gone off the air for good. Prime Video is also the home of some of the biggest straight-to-streaming movies this year, and the streamer has been testing the waters this year in various genres. Prime Video’s swashbuckling epic, The Bluff, was a massive hit despite lukewarm reviews, and the same can be said for The Wrecking Crew, the original crime thriller starring Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa that smashed to the top of streaming charts.

4 months’ jail for woman who hit motorcyclist, left scene and went shopping in Johor Bahru

30 May 2026 at 06:04

SINGAPORE: A 56-year-old Singaporean woman who hit a motorcycle in 2024 has been given a four-month jail sentence and has her driving license suspended for five years.

The woman had hit the biker after she had run a red light while driving on Sims Avenue, which resulted in multiple injuries to the biker, who ended up taking at least three months of medical leave after the mishap.

What makes the incident unusual, however, is that after the accident, she proceeded to Johor Bahru to do some shopping, and only surrendered herself to the Singapore Police Force a few days afterwards, according to a report in Shin Min Daily News.

Huang Suhua (transliteration) faced a total of four charges under the Road Traffic Act, which included dangerous driving causing hurt, failing to surrender to the police within 24 hours after an accident, failing to remain at the scene of the accident, and moving the vehicle without legal authorisation.

She pleaded guilty to three of the charges, and the additional charge was considered for her sentencing.

The mishap

The incident occurred on November 19, 2024, shortly before 8:30 am. As Huang was driving along Sims Road on her BMW, she sped up in an attempt to beat a red light. She ended up hitting the motorcyclist, who sustained serious injuries due to the mishap.

Instead of stopping and helping the motorcycle driver, however, Huang drove away from the scene.

Later, she asked someone she knew to drive her to the scene where the accident occurred, only to find that the motorcyclist had already been brought to the hospital.

She then went about with the rest of her day, which included a shopping trip to Johor Bahru and helping her daughter open her music school.

A few days later, however, she turned herself in, going to a police station to do so.

Sentencing

Huang’s lawyer said that she was regretful of her actions and did not blame anyone else. Her circumstances as a single mother who is supporting a son at school, as well as an 80-year-old mother in poor health, were also mentioned in court, as well as the fact that she has since lost her job after the accident, and is now suffering financial difficulties.

While she sought leniency from the judge, Huang was told that she needed to understand that she was responsible for everything that had transpired. /TISG

SINGAPORE: A Go-Ahead Singapore bus captain was allegedly assaulted by a passenger after the commuter became upset over missing his bus stop while travelling on Bus Service 2 on May 23.

In a Facebook post, the transport operator said the incident happened at around 3:10 p.m.

“At about 3:10 p.m., the commuter grew angry after his bus stop was missed and proceeded to verbally abuse and physically assault our bus captain while he was driving,” Go-Ahead Singapore stated.

The company added that the trip was disrupted following the incident and that the bus captain later sought medical attention at Changi General Hospital.

Go-Ahead Singapore stressed that it does not tolerate any form of abuse or violence against public transport workers, warning that such behaviour puts staff, commuters, and other road users at risk.

“Our bus captains carry out their duties every day with professionalism and care to ensure commuters reach their destinations safely. They deserve respect and should not have to endure abuse in the course of their work,” the company added.

Many netizens also shared their thoughts on the incident online.

Some commenters speculated that there may have been more to the confrontation.

“There is a great chance that the driver say something rude and make the passenger angry. I had many exp with rude bus drivers. Yes, the passenger should not hit the driver but the driver is responsible for calming the situation,” one commenter wrote.

“Not condoning violence but it takes 2 hands to clap,” another said.

Others disagreed, saying there was no excuse for physically assaulting a public transport worker regardless of the circumstances.

One netizen wrote that disagreements should instead be resolved calmly or reported through the proper feedback channels.

Another commenter also praised Go-Ahead Singapore for publicly standing up for its employee.

“It makes them feel supported and not alone, giving them greater confidence to carry out their duties safely and confidently,” the commenter said.
