This week on the PetaPixel Podcast, we sat down with Yuji Igarashi, General Manager of Professional Imaging Products in Fujifilm's Imaging Solutions Division. Echoing Fujifilm's successful Focus on Glass event in early March, we mostly chatted about glass, including where Igarashi thinks Fujifilm succeeds, and where it can go from here.
Having previously used both the Thypoch Simera 28mm f/1.4 and Simera 75mm f/1.4, I was expecting great things from the 50mm f/1.4. I've come to find that the Thypoch Simera series is characterized by clean, crisp optics and affordable prices. At $749, the Simera 50mm f/1.4 for M-mount is certainly far more attainable than the equivalent Leica lenses, but can it still deliver high-quality optical performance?
Amongst the plethora of different versions of the Leica M 35mm f/1.4 Summilux lenses, the “11873” model has garnered special attention.
