Following a successful run in theaters, F1 has gone on to become the most-watched movie on Apple TV by a mile, even outlasting newer arrivals like Eternity (starring Elizabeth Olsen). Pitt is also back in the spotlight in 2026 with the release of his new action-adventure movie, Heart of the Beast, which comes from director David Ayer. The film was recently set for release in theaters on September 25, and if it’s any indication about how good the cast and crew feel about it, David Ayer chose to work on Heart of the Beast over reuniting with Jason Statham for The Beekeeper 2.

After debuting theatrically barely two weeks ago, Guy Ritchie's new movie is already available to rent or purchase on PVOD. This sort of narrow theatrical window is getting rarer these days, as studios and exhibitors try to correct the mistakes of the last few years. Universal, for instance, has committed to a four-week theatrical window for its movies starting this year; this will increase to at least five weekends from next year onward. So, for a major action movie starring globally renowned stars and with an A-list director at the helm to be released on home video merely 17 days after its release seems, on the surface, like a step in the other direction. The movie's underwhelming box-office performance and mediocre reviews probably had something to do with it.

The first project in the pipeline aimed at helping to heal a damaged reputation is the Christmas flick Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol,set to be released by Paramount Pictures on November 13. Directed by Ti West, known best for his acclaimed X trilogy, the film is the latest adaptation of Charles Dickens' acclaimed novel. Depp stars in the film alongside the likes of Andrea Riseborough (Birdman), Tramell Tillman (Severance), Rupert Grint (Harry Potter), Daisy Ridley (Star Wars), and more.

As a new chapter in his career begins, Johnny Depp is looking to win back some fans by returning to his best-loved role. In the upcoming sixth film in Disney’s blockbuster franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Depp looks set to return to his most iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow, although it is still unclear whether he will be joined by fellow franchise favorites such as Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. Although his place in the film isn't yet confirmed, franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer did previously hint that a role for Depp's Sparrow might already be in the script.

Nolan spent most of 2025 working on The Odyssey, the new historical epic based on Homer’s work featuring one of the most star-studded casts ever assembled. Starring in the lead roles of Odysseus and his son Telemachus in The Odyssey are Matt Damon and Tom Holland, who are already being eyed as potential Oscar contenders at the 2027 Academy Awards. Over the last 15 years, Christopher Nolan has become one of the most important and established filmmakers in Hollywood history, but not every one of his films has been a certified hit. His last film, Oppenheimer, was viewed as his magnum opus, but before that came the most polarizing release of his career.
