Stephen Colbert Fans Explain Why They Believe CBS Canceled ‘The Late Show’: ‘It Was Politically Motivated’

If you thought that Kevin Costner's departure from Yellowstone, or the fact that Taylor Sheridan will be leaving Paramount in favor of his new deal with NBCUniversal, would've contributed to the franchise's demise, you'd be wrong. Two Yellowstone sequels have made waves this year, and now both find themselves thoroughly fixed in Paramount+'s official "Top 10." This comes on the heels of other franchise milestones, like 1923 becoming the most-watched premiere on Paramount+, and rides against the narrative that these Yellowstone spin-offs can't live up to the original.

Taylor Sheridan fans have had a lot of new shows to watch so far this year, and they will continue to be greeted with new content every time they open Paramount+ before the end of the year. Sheridan is soon to wrap up the first season of his latest Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals, which he executive produces. The show has already been picked up for Season 2, though, and it’s expected to return before the end of the year. Sheridan fans also ventured back to the world of Yellowstone for the second spin-off of the year, Dutton Ranch, which stars Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly. After Marshals opened with some of the worst review scores of any Sheridan-produced Western in history, Dutton Ranch has turned things around by earning a solid 85% from critics and 80% from audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.

Michael Fassbender is busy right now filming his new Netflix political thriller, Kennedy, which is expected to air later this year or early in 2027. First-look images of Fassbender behind the scenes of the series were released a few weeks ago. Fassbender is also famous for his blockbuster role as Magneto in Fox’s X-Men movies, and he’s even a two-time Oscar nominee for his daring performances in 12 Years a Slave and Steve Jobs. He previously made headlines after a four-year hiatus from acting with his return in The Killer, the 2023 David Fincher-directed hitman thriller that was released straight to streaming on Netflix. The film earned widespread acclaim from critics and audiences as one of the most methodical hitman movies of all-time.

Alan Ritchson has given us a couple of good movies this year. He was seen in Netflix’s War Machine, which became a breakout hit. His understated emotional performance as a military engineer who’s training to be an Army Ranger in memory of the brother he lost, touched a nerve with the global audience. He was also seen as a stay-at-home dad, Jeff, in Playdate, starring alongside Kevin James. The buddy action film made for streaming brought out the comedic best in Ritchson, which we get to see sparingly on screen. Director Luke Greenfield makes the most out of Ritchson’s "action star" image and gives it a brilliant naïve spin that made fans appreciate the film even more.

Tom Cruise has given us numerous action franchises, like Mission: Impossible and Top Gun, and sci-fi flicks like Edge of Tomorrow and Oblivion. He also has some dramas and comedies sprinkled in, but around the world he’s best known as the action star who isn’t afraid of pushing his limits. His filmography is full of titles you can go back to anytime and be amused, and one of those impeccable movies has now taken over streaming.

Marvel fans, are you ready to see Gambit again? After two decades of willing Channing Tatum's interpretation onto the big screen, he finally made his surprise appearance in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine, although all too briefly. Hopefully, on December 18, we'll get a better look at the mutant as Tatum reprises his role as Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday. Tatum won't be alone, with the movie boasting a jaw-dropping cast that includes the likes of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Anthony Mackie(the new Captain America), Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier), and many more.
