OpenAI Gets Serious About Detecting Fake Images

A new report by the New York Times claims Israel built a second secret military base in Iraq’s western desert to support its strikes on Iran, and that the US had knowledge of it. Citing an Iraqi official and lawmaker, the NYT reported that the presence of these bases may have led to the death of the Bedouin shepherd who first sounded the alarm.

While almost all of them have turned to AI‑generated videos, social media has been flooded above all by the output of two campaigns.

Macron ‘slap’ was sparked by texts with Iranian actress, book claims

An AI-generated tabloid magazine cover online claimed to show President Emmanuel Macron and Iranian-French actress Golshifteh Farahani together. The fake cover builds on claims from a new book about the Macrons by a French journalist, who alleges the pair had a “platonic” relationship, of which the text messages prompted the now infamous "slap" by French First Lady Brigitte Macron, as the couple exited the plane in Hanoi.
